Gamer Doc™ Video Games Coming to North Carolina

City of Raleigh Will Be Location of First Store in North Carolina

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., May 20, 2009 – Gamer Doc™, the retail video game store franchise that delivers a new and interactive customer experience, today announced the sale of its first store in Raleigh, North Carolina to new owners Jim and Kim Hamilton.

“We are very pleased to announce the first Gamer Doc store in North Carolina,” said Jim Belanger, president of Gamer Doc. “This builds on the strong momentum we started the year with, when we opened three stores in the first quarter. The Raleigh store strengthens our presence on the East Coast, and we look forward to continuing to extend our footprint across the U.S. and Canada throughout the rest of the year.”

Gamer Doc currently has stores open in Bear, Delaware; Burlington, Ontario; Highland Park, California; Miami, Florida; and Springfield, Pennsylvania. The Hamiltons plan to open their store this summer.

“The response to the Gamer Doc concept and the innovative shopping experience we are bringing to retail has been tremendous,” Belanger said. “Our franchisees are very excited to be part of the video game industry, which continues to show strong growth even in this sluggish economy. Consumers continue to seek entertainment, and video games are the category leader.”

Gamer Doc features Xbox® 360, PlayStation® and Wii® Gamer Centers, making it easy to find games, consoles and accessories for each platform. Customers can buy, rent, sell, pick-up, pre-order or trade-in a game, or drop a disc or console off for repair. HD flat-panel monitors and cables are also available, and the knowledgeable staff is happy to show customers how to hook-up their systems, share tips on how to improve their scores, try out new games, and answer any questions they might have.

“Gamer Doc is more than a video game store; it is an entertainment center,” Belanger said. “We are here to make sure that shopping at Gamer Doc is an enjoyable experience that keeps our customers coming back.”

Peter Jeakins Wins Gamer Doc Burlington Cup and $500 Store Credit

Burlington, Ontario store owner James Bajc, left, congratulates Peter Jeakins for winning the inaugural Gamer Doc Burlington EA Sports NHL Hockey Tournament, held Saturday, April 18. Jeakins won the Gamer Doc Burlington Cup and a $500 store credit.

Second-place winner Chris MacLean, left, receives his $60 Sports Authority gift certificate from Marlon Jackson, store manager.

Shawn MacLellan, left, came in third, and won a $20 Sports Authoritygift certificate, presented by Marlon Jackson, store manager.

It was a long and grueling test for the 32 contestants, who were chosen at random from the pool of applicants from radio station Y108, but a great time was had by all. The semi-final match-ups were the most entertaining point of the tournament, with the eventual champ, Jeakins, defeating Ryan Bender on one side of the draw, and MacLean ousting MacLellan on the other side. Jeakins then coasted through the best of three final to take home the Gamer Doc Burlington Cup.

“We at Gamer Doc Burlington would like to thank all the participants for their true sportsmanship, patience and true sense of Canadian humor during the long day,” Bajc said. “They made all of us up here at Gamer Doc Burlington proud to be TRUE HOCKEY LOVIN’ CANADIANS! We would also like to send out a special thanks to Sports Authority for the gift certificate prizes and Y108 for all of their support.”

The Burlington Gamer Doc is located at 3350 Fairview Street, and the phone number is (905) 631-8390.
